Mind Strengthening

 Hi everyone,

Welcome back to another blog! I want to use today to help us all with something that we likely do not put enough thought into. It is important to exercise our mind, just like we exercise our bodies. When it comes to physical health, a large component of it is taking care of your brain. It runs parallel to the importance of prioritizing mental health as we do with physical health. Brains can be trained with countless strategies, so here I will outline a few for you.

Take a Walk

Getting outside and breathing fresh air is a great way to clear your mind. It allows for time to yourself while getting your heart rate up to a healthy level. Psychology studies support the ideas that walking increases self-confidence, self-esteem, mood, and more. Likewise, it leads to better sleep at night and an increased level of energy throughout the day.

Socialize

Socializing and hanging out with friends engages many parts of our brains. In fact, social engagement is correlated with a strong immune system. Furthermore, it boosts mental health and improves day-to-day moods. Some ways to get social could be facetiming a friend, joining clubs, volunteering, playing sports, and more!

Find New Hobbies

Playing sports, learning an instrument, or other niche activities are fantastic ways to train your brain. In doing so, you are challenging yourself and stimulating your brain. Learning new songs, or games is a mental workout that will challenge you. Unfamiliar tasks cause you to learn how to navigate through the unknowns. You will need to recall new information and perform executive tasks.

Organize

With all these ideas, it may seem like you will get busy training your brain. But without knowing it, you are always actively bettering your brain processes. Organizing allows your brain to create groupings which makes it easier for you to recall information and perform memory tasks. Organizing increases your short-term memory since you are actively chunking information.

Finally, have fun! The best ways to train your brain come when you do not expect it. Each of these tasks can be easily included in your daily life and will result in many positive outcomes. You will find yourself at the ease of mind and a much healthier version of yourself. Enjoy and get going!

In friendship,

Sophie :)
