Goal Setting for 2023 within Best Buddies 

New Year, New Goals!

As 2023 starts, many people set their own personal resolutions for themselves. Resolutions are a great way to plan and navigate through the year. With that said, coming up with a couple "resolutions" for your chapter, friendship, or leadership organization within Best Buddies is an excellent way to start the new year off strong! 

Chapter Goals 

As a chapter, goal setting is extremely important. In order to succeed as one group, lots of communication regarding what goals the chapter hopes to achieve and how they hope to achieve them is critical. The new year and the start of the spring semester is a great to to reevaluate your chapter's objectives. Are there any goals that you wish to continue from the previous year? What new goals need to be set? 

Here are some examples of great goals to set for the spring semester: 

• Attend a Best Buddies Event (for example winter formal) 
• Sign every member up for the Friendship Walk in the spring 
• Fundraise $_______ for the Friendship Walk
• Partner with a neighboring chapter to host an event 
• Ensure a smooth officer transition 
• Fundraise for Leadership Conference 
• Do at least one thing to celebrate Best Buddies Month 
• Increase followers and engagement on social media 
• Get more members involved in events 
• Fix _____ issue 

These are just a couple examples of some action items your chapter's officer team can discuss and prioritize. Remember, aside from goal setting, planning and execution are critical parts to succeeding as a chapter, so formulate a timeline and delegate tasks to ensure that all of your goals are met! 

Personal Goals 

These are ambitions that you hope to achieve personally within the Best Buddies organization. Personal goals are dependent on each individual, so they are a bit harder to generalize. However, down below is a list of examples of personal goals that can serve as a guide for Best Buddies members looking to pursue new targets this year. 

• Spend more time with your buddy 
• Try a new activity with your buddy 
• Personally fundraise $____ for Friendship Walk 
• Bring 5 friends to attend Friendship Walk with me 
• Repost Social Media posts from @bestbuddies, @bestbuddiesylc, and your local chaper/SAB account 
• Be more engaging with Best Buddies related social media posts (like & comment) 
• Get more involved with your local Best Buddies chapter by volunteering at their events 

Leadership Goals 

Finally, leadership goals are important for those who have a position within the Best Buddies organization. This can be chapter leaders, SAB members, ambassadors, etc. Leadership goals are meant to help you grow as a leader and in turn better support the organization. As each person improves themselves individually, Best Buddies thrives as a whole. 

Examples of leadership goals include: 

• Be on time to meetings 
• Come to meetings prepared with questions 
• Complete your assigned tasks/initiatives on time
• Ask questions to higher leaders/ Best Buddies staff if you need assistance 
• Take on new initiatives/projects 
• Refer to the agenda for more details regarding your projects
• Be a great example for other Best Buddies Members!
