How to Celebrate:

First of all, this week is Spread Inclusion Week! It is a great time to make an announcement about Best Buddies to your school or post on Social Media to recognize the mission of inclusion. Your chapter can also create a school wide event to celebrate this month. For example, sometime in the month of March your chapter can host a Best Buddies Spirit Week, similar to Homecoming and Prom spirit weeks. This means for each day of the week, members and other students at your school dress up following a particular theme. An example could be "Wear crazy patterns to celebrate our differences" or "Twin day with your buddy". Try to make the dress up days have themes that relate to the Best Buddies mission. Also, make sure to ask your school's administration in advance to get the week scheduled and planned.

Another idea to celebrate Best Buddies month at your school or in your community is a "Spread the Word to End the Word" campaign. Hang up a big poster in the main hallway or a common part of your community and have people sign their names, pledging against the use of the R word. This is a great way to spread inclusivity and educate others about Best Buddies.

Finally, try to host a Best Buddies school wide or community event in order to celebrate this amazing month! It can be as simple as a Picnic in the Park on a weekend where students and community members can bring food to enjoy the great outdoors with their buddy. There are so many possibilities of a simple, affordable event that you can host to recognize the importance of the Best Buddies mission of inclusion!

We hope that this blog inspires you with some ideas to enjoy, celebrate, and recognize Best Buddies month!

In Friendship,
